May 4 Daniel Rowland 10

O My soul answer him whilst he calls. Open whilst he knocks. May the love of Jesus wrestle with thee and prevail, mayest thou not resist him as others do. For alas he hath in general but little encouragement to wait upon sinners and stand at their door. Sometimes they put him off with trifling excuses saying, "I have no leisure to run to the door and open to thee. I have some more important business in hand than attending upon thee. Come at some other time' I can not admit thee now because I have other strangers within - a few choice companions for whom I have highest esteem, for whom I have the highest esteem. They may be offended with thy presence and I must not offend those whom I really love. Go thy way for this time and when the coast is quite clear or when I have a leisure hour and a convenient opportunity I will send for thee."
Daniel Rowland 1711-1790
